Congressional candidates David Gill and Matt Goetten joined our local candidates, David Cox for state's attorney and Kathleen Piatt (love the last name!) for county board to discuss Piatt County voters' issues and concerns as we head into the primary and general elections.

Our 2012 Primary Election was completed last week with state-wide county "conventions" in all 102 Illinois counties. Both parties held local meetings to elect their Central Committee officers and certify precinct "committeemen". This information was forwarded to the State Board of Elections last Thursday within the 10 working days allowed by state election law. The State Board of Elections certified all election results and we are now heading toward the November General Election.
ReplyDeleteAs a result the final numbers are confirmed and Dr. David Gill won the nomination for the Democratic Party congressional candidate for the 13th District by 163 votes over Mr. Matthew Goetten the state's attorney from Greene county. It was a very close and contested race.
To move ahead as a unified party, Dr. Gill and Mr. Goetten are holding a "Unity Breakfast" in Springfield this coming Thursday April 26th from 7:30 - 9:00 am at the IBEW Local 193 hall. The address is 3150 Wide Track Drive, Springfield. The breakfast is open to all Democrats interested in the upcoming General Election race bewtween Dr. Gill and a still to be appointed Republican Party candidate.
